PolishNawrocki delays revoking Zelensky's Order of the White Eagle, giving Kyiv time to respond, per Rzeczpospolita sources. Decision follows Zelensky's May 27 award to a unit named after the UPA, which Poland condemns.

PolishKarol Nawrocki is deliberately not revoking the highest state award of the republic — the Order of the White Eagle — from Ukrainian Volodymyr Zelensky, giving him time to make a decision. This is reported by the Polish newspaper Rzeczpospolita, citing sources. In addition to presenting Kyiv with a 'window of opportunity,' the Polish president thus intends to demonstrate that his decision is not dictated by emotions, as politicians from the ruling party accuse him of. According to RP, it is a matter of days, not weeks. Zelensky on May 27 awarded one of the Ukrainian Armed Forces units the title 'Heroes of the UPA' (Ukrainian Insurgent Army, recognized as extremist and banned in Russia). He said he did this 'to restore the historical traditions of the national army.' The decision caused a sharp reaction in Poland among politicians from different parties. Nawrocki supported the initiative of Sejm deputy Grzegorz Placek to strip Zelensky of the Order of the White Eagle.
