An improved Japanese H3 launch vehicle launched on a test flight on Friday morning, according to the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). The launch took place from the Tanegashima Space Center at 09:52 Tokyo time (03:52 Moscow). The rocket is to carry a VEP-5 mass simulator and six small satellites from Japan and France into sun-synchronous orbit. This is the first launch since a failure on December 22, 2025, caused by a second-stage problem that resulted in the loss of the Michibiki-5 (QZS-5) navigation satellite.
