The Lapland District Court in Rovaniemi on Monday sentenced two people in Finland's largest human trafficking case, involving 78 Thai berry pickers. Jukka Kristo, former CEO of Polarica Marjanhankinta, received 2 years 6 months for 78 counts of human trafficking; his Thai business partner Kalyakorn Phongphit received 9 months. The court ordered joint compensation of 500,000 euros. The verdict is not final and is being appealed.
