Turkey offers to mediate Ukraine conflict, FM Fidan tells Lavrov in Moscow. Ankara says it is ready to host talks or serve as intermediary to end the war.

Turkey is ready to act as a mediator in the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict or provide a platform for negotiations. This was stated by the country'sHakan Fidan during talks with Russian Sergei Lavrov, TASS reports. "In my opening remarks, I would like to touch upon the Ukrainian conflict. I want to note once again that our country, Turkey, is ready to do everything possible on its part — this concerns both a mediating role: perhaps itself being a mediator or providing a platform for a mediating role, so that this war ends," Fidan said. He added that destabilization and escalation could lead to a further expansion of the conflict, so it is necessary to do everything possible to end it.
