UN warns Sudan humanitarian crisis deepening as West Darfur fighting displaces 18,000 to Chad; 75,000 lose healthcare after 3 Central Darfur facilities close amid funding gaps, appeal 41% funded

UN humanitarians warned Monday that ongoing conflict, displacement, and funding shortages are deepening humanitarian needs across Sudan, with fighting in West Darfur's Sirba locality displacing an estimated 18,000 people from more than 20 villages—most fleeing to Chad—while the closure of three health facilities in Central Darfur due to funding gaps has left some 75,000 displaced people without adequate healthcare. OCHA said Sudan's humanitarian appeal is 41 percent funded, with $1.2 billion received against the $2.9 billion required, and UN envoy Pekka Haavisto has met with both the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces to push for a cessation of hostilities.
