The UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights condemned the torture and mistreatment of Palestinian detainees by Israel, calling for independent investigations into deaths, abuse, and sexual violence in Israeli prisons. UN spokesperson Thameen Al-Kheetan said the abuses appear systematic and include reports of rape, including against minors, and the UN verified at least 90 detainee deaths in Israeli custody since October 2023.
