Phone scammers steal almost 40 million rubles from Moscow pensioner and daughter, prosecutors say

Almost 40 million rubles were stolen by telephone scammers from a pensioner and her daughter, the Moscow prosecutor's office reported. The 80-year-old woman received a call from a man posing as a State Services employee who said her data had been leaked and demanded she withdraw all her savings for verification; after obtaining the money, the scammers also convinced her daughter to sell her car.
