Bolivia's lower house repeals law limiting emergency powers, clearing Paz to deploy military against demonstrators. The repeal passed with more than two-thirds majority and now allows the armed forces to impose curfews and restrict assembly.

Bolivia's Chamber of Deputies voted by more than a two-thirds majority on Tuesday to repeal Law 1341, which had required congressional approval for states of emergency since 2020. The repeal, already passed by the Senate, allows President Rodrigo Paz to deploy the military and impose curbs on civil liberties against demonstrators.
